Grandparent's Day!

I would like to thank all our wonderful families who were able to make it to Grandparent's Day today! The joy on 2W's faces was evident as they enjoyed spending time doing activities and chatting. A big thank you to those who acted as surrogate Grandparents for the day and spent time with their children's friends as well.

The fish are busy swimming and the paper cranes are up and flying around! Stay tuned for more pics!

Grandparents, Thank You For Helping Us Grow!

We are excited to show off our latest window display for Grandparent's Day!

See you tomorrow...

How cool is this! A class in Colorado Springs (USA) have been gaining inspiration, games and activities from 2W's Class Blog.

Make sure you check out the "Learning Links" tab up the top of the page to check out for yourselves the page being used and enjoyed by these students!

Shout out to their teacher Dianne and Mia who have shared with us some more great interactive games on Time- this has come just in "time" for 2W as we finish up our unit on telling the time next week! Use the following link to check these out.

The internet, when used appropriately, is incredible!

Sometimes Term 4 can be all about tests and reports...

We make sure we find the most engaging and effective way to assess our knowledge.

This comes in three forms- prior to learning a topic we may discuss or demonstrate the knowledge that we already have on this topic. This then informs Miss Woodcock about what the class actually knows, and therefore where to teach from and what to teach! Miss Woodcock then makes judgments on what she sees "while" we're learning. At the end of a topic, to see exactly the knowledge or skills we were able to gain from these lessons or experiences, we do a post assessment activity.

One of our favourite Assessment tools is Kahoot!

Kahoot! is a game-based App, found on the iPads which contains a number of quiz style, multiple choice questions. There is also a challenge competent which fosters some healthy competition within the classroom. Miss Woodcock either selects the Kahoot Quiz, or makes her own, depending on the topic. Throughout the year 2W have done Kahoot's on all subjects studied this year. We have completed Kahoot's on Australian Capital Cities, Addition, Shapes, David and Goliath, Keeping Healthy, 3D Shapes, times tables, Push & Pull, place value and Easter!!

Download the App and try it out at home!

Here in 2W the W stands for WONDERFUL artists.

This term we have been looking at various techniques when drawing with Oil Pastels.
See some of our master pieces below.

Please join us for a celebration in
honouring the special role you play in our lives!

When: Friday 10th November 2017
Time: 9am—11:15am
Where: Church Auditorium followed by classroom
    activities and morning tea!

I thank my God every time I remember you

This term our class was privileged to be selected to participate in a Primary Connections Science Unit trial on MACHINES!

Put simply- the writers of some awesome Science programs chose 2W to preview some top secret lessons before they hit schools next year.

Machines are all around us. Cars, cranes, dishwashers, computers and power saws are all
examples of complex machines and all make a particular task easier to complete. However,
these complex machines are made up of a number of simpler machines.
In the most general sense, a machine is any device that can be used to perform a task.
Scientists describe a machine as a device for transmitting or modifying a force or motion.
Something as simple as a stick can be considered a machine, as you push one side and it
transmits that push to the other side. Almost all machines used in our daily lives are made up
of a combination of six simple machines that are described as levers, wheels and axles,
inclined planes (ramps), gears, and pulleys.

To capture students’ interest and find out what they think they know about how a push or a pull affects how an object moves, we  made a Dog Feeder!

There are many scholars who have researched the benefit of consolidating mathematical knowledge through the use of GAMES!

Here in 2W we tend to agree!

Not only do they help us practice skills and build our problematic thinking... sometimes, we don't even realise we're doing maths at all!

See a few pics below of a few new games added to our collection this term!

What a fabulous effort and performance at the Primary Assembly on Thursday!
On Friday the students received a little congratulatory gift to celebrate all their hard work and bravery in performing at Assembly!
Hats off to you 2W! You are Awesome!

This pack contained:
- a star Post it note: because 2W were the STAR of the show!
- a pencil: because they did a "sharp" performace!
- a fantale lolly: because Miss Woodcock is 2W's biggest FAN!
a freddo: a sweet treat, for a SWEET performace
.... but mostly just because everyone loves chocolate!

Just a tip- if your child would like their 2W shirt to last as long as possible gently HAND WASH ONLY! The paint is acrylic and the names were written in permanent marker, but the less you wash it the longer it will remain in tact!

Chillax for Sport!

It was farrrr to hot to run around for sport on Wednesday so we went into the air conditioning of the Middle Room and did some Chillax vidoes from Go Noodle!
See below some awesome action shots!

Final visit with our Year 12 Buddies!

This week we spent some time with our Year 12 buddies! This was the last time we will see them before their exams! We have had such a great year getting to know them, spending time playing games and hanging out! Although we are sad to see them go, we are so excited for this next chapter in their lives. Please join us in praying for them over the next few weeks as they cram in as much study as possible and sit their exams early next term. To give them some encouragement (and a bit of sugar) we made them a card which had chocolate and lollies stuck to it! See a pic below :)
