Learning About School in the Past

In History we have been learning all about family life in the past and present and how communities change over time.

We did this interactive whiteboard lesson to explore what school was like for students in the past by comparing a classroom in Victorian times with a modern classroom today.

Eddie and Aiden did a terrific job as leaders in this lesson, well done boys!

Keep up the wonderful effort with your learning 2G historians!

Harmony Day

Today we celebrated Harmony Day. It was a wonderful day of thinking about harmony, unity, getting along with others and coming together as one so that everyone feels like they have a place where they belong.

The slogan of Harmony Day is 'everyone belongs' and the colour for Harmony Day is orange.

We headed over to the Church auditorium this morning to join secondary school for a special whole College chapel time celebrating Harmony Day.

We sang some songs and thought about God's love for us and how we can show that love to others.

Mr Warren spoke to us about Harmony Day and what it means to live in harmony with one another and also what the Bible says about having unity and respect for one another.

Later in the day, we made some special Harmony Day hand print craft in class after lunch.

Here is the link to the Harmony Day website if you wuld like to find out more...

Super Striking and Batting Skills in PE

We have been working on our striking and batting skills in PE using a range of different sized balls and various equipment for striking them with, as well as using our hands.

Here's some pictures of us during our PE activity rotations...

We practiced using cricket bats to hit balls from a stationary position on top of cone markers all in a row for accuracy...

We practiced our pat bouncing skills using the basketballs whilst seated at different heights such as sitting, kneeling and then doing bounce relays whilst walking and running...

We used the paddle bats and tennis balls to practice bouncing the balls on the spot on the ground, bouncing them in the air with the bats and also hitting the ball back and forth against the wall or with a partner...

Keep up the terrific effort with your PE skills 2G superstars!

Handwriting: I and J Lessons

We have been working through the alphabet in our Handwriting lessons and each time we do a new letter we brainstorm a whole bunch of words starting with that letter to practice and build our vocabularies.

We've also been integrating some of our Grammar lessons work by focusing on correct punctuation with capitalising proper nouns such as the names of people, place and things that we use in Handwriting.

Check out Rhea, Ace and Isaac with their amazing handwriting work from our letter I and J focus lessons!

Way to go superstars! Keep up the fantastic work in handwriting 2G!

Story Time: The House That Jane Built

This week in Daily 5 as one of our Listening to Reading tasks we watched this amazing story using the interactive whiteboard.

The House That Jane Built by Tanya Lee Stone tells the story of Jane Addams who was a young girl with a dream in her heart to help people and make the world a better place.

It was such a beautiful and inspiring story, based on actual events and prompted some terrific discussion in our class about what our dreams for the future are and how we can help others.

It's wonderful to see our students' effort in exploring different types of texts and discussing the purpose, themes and content presented with increasing maturity and depth of thought.
